From what I can see the Vox Delaylab delay effects pedal is worth a close look, whether your a serious musician looking for that signature sound or an aspiring guitarist looking for a delay pedal with a wide range of features which is value for money.
Arriving in early 2012 the Vox Delaylab, may not have a long history, but it boasts a set of features that really up the ante for other delay modelers. This highly spec'd, stompbox format delay pedal gives you great bang for buck, all in a rugged cast-metal body.
If you love experimenting with your tone the Vox Delaylab will get you there with 30 delay effects types, expression pedal input, three different looping delay effects and an intuitive to use preset system. It is flexible without being so complex that it’s unusable by those starting out or with a more conventional approach to using delay.

Serious delay fanatics are more than catered for by the Vox Delaylab. With 3 categories to choose from - Standard, Vintage and Custom and 10 effect types in each including Analog, Tape, Digital, Multitap, Dynamic, Dual, Modulation, Stereo, Ambient and Reverse this adds up to 30 different effects. You can quickly access three different delays via the last three footswitches. With the Vox Delaylabs' ability to store 30 rewritable preset programs it’s possible to create different presets / patches in 10 easily changed banks of three. So you could, for example, have three completely different delays ready for each of 10 songs in a set. Wow a different delay for the verse, chorus, and bridge an enviable arsenal for any player to have at their disposal.
Although it eliminates the tap tempo option and the ability to save patches, the Vox Delaylab looping mode does allow you to choose 3 different types of delay - digital, analog or space. You can customize then record loops of up to 28 seconds. Great for getting creative or practising and a fitting complement to its array of features. Despite cramming so much versatility into the Vox Delaylab, build quality, ease of use and aesthetics have not been compromised. The cast-metal, white body and black, metal faceplate are more than up to the rigours of stage use. Initially, the controls may appear complicated with six white chickenhead knobs, four robust (yet silent) footswitches, various push-buttons and green/red LEDs. However, the interface is intuitive and with a little use will soon become second nature.
The Vox Delaylab also includes the ability to adjust delay time in 1 millisecond steps up to 4 seconds, control of delay properties via an optional, expression pedal, Sync Mode giving fast, easy creation of poly-rhythmic effects, Seamless Program Change and Bypass functions ensuring uniform transitions, high-quality 24-bit/48 kHz sampling comparable to professional audio equipment, 1/4" stereo inputs and outputs plus an Assignable Pedal Control input. It runs from 6 x 'AA' size batteries or an optional power adapter.
The Vox DelayLab is certainly a versatile, well-specified and intuitive pedal with a highly efficient arrangement for use by serious stage musicians that also would not be out of place in the bedroom or home studio. It gives guitarists comprehensive delay tools to work with and allows you to easily and simply create your sound, save it, and then get on with playing.
