Pros:
  • Great for live work
  • Small, rechargeable
Cons:
  • Not ideal for recording

For anyone needing a great performing compressor pedal for live work or rehearsing and playing with others, the Red Witch Seven Sisters SSG001 Grace Compressor pedal fits the bill nicely. From a subtly squashed sound through to soaring sustain for soloing, this pedal has a broader tonal range than you might first think as a result of its simple 2 knob adjustment. The Red Witch Seven Sisters SSG001 Grace Compressor pedal sounds particularly good when used with single-coil, pickup guitars and fills out the tone of other effects when placed before them in the chain. Guitarists often use compression to even out large jumps in volume levels such as when you hit some notes harder than others, or when changing from distortion or overdrive to a clean tone. Setting the volume knob to just above middle and the comp knob to about three quarters creates a sustained, clean, bell-like tone. Cranking the volume up and backing off the comp knob will also work well to push an amp into overdrive. Backing off on the volume knob and maximizing the comp setting won't strangle the signal as abruptly as many studio compressors but this won't be a drawback for many players.

It may not be ideal in a recording situation, but the Red Witch Seven Sisters SSG001 Grace Compressor pedal is the one to buy if you want a compact, sturdy compressor for live use that is much cheaper than many boutiqe pedals yet still gives you that professional, quality sound.
