Along with the usual sockets for input and output, the Jim Dunlop M193 MXR GT-OD Overdrive has three chunky control knobs, one each for Output, Tone and Gain (overdrive/distortion). Starting with both the Output and Gain controls set to between 7 and 12 o'clock the sound ranges from slightly dirty through to a satisfyingly, beefy overdrive. Turn the Gain up to between 2 and 6 o'clock to get a more aggressive tone, a crunchy distortion great for blues or classic rock players. The Tone control on the the Jim Dunlop M193 MXR GT-OD Overdrive does a great job of adjusting for different pickups, taking away the jarring edge from single coils but boosting the trebly snap on humbuckers.
